I'm a little stumped about that.

Also . . .

Harry transformed into such an active leader in the last book, so it was a shame to watch him regress back to simply being a follower: playing Quidditch, worrying about classes, totally relying on Dumbledore for safety and information. All of the stuff Dumbledore does behind the scenes in this book (figuring how to stop Voledemort) is what Harry should be doing.

Why should Harry be doing this? How would Harry be able to find the memories of those who had met Voldemort without leaving Hogwarts? How can Harry figure out how to stop Voldemort? He's a sixteen year-old boy who is basically out of his depth. That is why he always seem to win either by sheer luck or with the help of someone else.

In order for Harry to be what you wanted him to be in this book, he would have to be an adult and not an adolescent teenager. Even if his effort to stop Voldemort in OotP nearly ended in disaster, due to his "heroics" and belief that he and his DA friends could stop the guy.

I think you demand too much of Harry.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13294573.post-6619317214038685552011-08-27T19:29:23.896-04:002011-08-27T19:29:23.896-04:00It also wouldnt have made any sense for harry to b...It also wouldnt have made any sense for harry to be protected by love from voldemort, marked as his equal or struggling with a part of voldemort inside himself [evil] if he were not to turn this into triumpth. Neville does become important but as the one who leads others while harry seeks the main boss character. There is only one chosen one however you mistakingly said that it best harrys end was not to follow that. Harry didnt ever want to be a hero. Voldemort fearing the prophecy and powerlessness is what created its fulfillment as he sought harry out. This is a part of voldys weakness. He fears the wrong things thus enables his own downfall. Harry wins as a means to show that his strength was never power but what he believed in. and come on he wasnt an idol. People doubted and betrayed him. He was an outcast figure turned into a resilient hero. To not have such an end would diminish all need of him getting there. He is a flawed hero hotheaded and stubborn. Yet he is chosen to save world because of the love in him. Desire to save what he loved caused him to overcome fear of death. Then he transformed into unstoppable being who overcame death and stopped evil trying to take control of it. Think this storytelling logic no.work? Read the Bible. Its there.Sarah Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00013461165391193351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13294573.post-43601719663787646762011-08-27T19:05:12.571-04:002011-08-27T19:05:12.571-04:00I dont like any of your plot changes. Harry is changed into one who fights for the muggle kind and wizard kind so becomes an auror, an act of truly knowing himself and honoring his parents lives, a skill he best of all has learned. Dumbledore is important because thru all trauma he keeps harry grounded showing harrys need for love . Harrys downfall was when he always tried to do it himself which is why love and friendship is,so important. Voldemort on the other hand tries to make himself invulnerable and unreached by others. For the length of time confused in tents shows realisticness and harry says to ron that his expectations were not supposed to be back by christmas all safe and warm. Hermoine knows what is truly important which is beyond staying in school but fighting for their world. This something silently decided as an act of love. & hogwarts was being oppressed. They werent going to cheaply reflect on it with humor when in terror. Harry isnt bloodthirsty. He must destroy a dictator. Thats more important sometimes. Dont forget that voldemort embodied evil itself. Harry showed mercy to draco and snape and his cruel family and to peter pettigrew. Ron also proved himself and became worthy of hermoine by the end. For neville to kill voldemort and harry having a self loathing moment that stops his quest is horrible. And harry is just as traumatized. He dreamt of his mothers screams and saw his parents in mirror of erised and lived to honor them. How can you possibly downplay that? You are missing the emotions and morality of the way h p is set. I cringed. Dont break things into right vs wrong storytelling logic. Its about what speaks to the soul. Harry didnt become bloodthirsty. He no longer feared death. He lived the wisdom dumbledore guided him to for which dumbledore was flawed mostSarah Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00013461165391193351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13294573.post-50377728685567537732011-06-17T09:03:15.561-04:002011-06-17T09:03:15.561-04:00Book 6 is so fascinating! I love it that we get to see the boy who becomes Voldemort, eeek!

Of all the main character deaths in the series, Dumbledore's is the only one that was absolutely necessary. Saving all the world would've been too easy if Albus had lived, so obvs he had to die so Harry (and Hermione & Ron) could do it on his own!Laura S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13934230198562773803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13294573.post-74234246781036148532011-06-16T16:45:36.968-04:002011-06-16T16:45:36.968-04:00Ok, you are really good at this.
But of COURSE on...Ok, you are really good at this.

But of COURSE only Ron understands Hermione--they're both the best friends to the most famous wizard ever...ok, I'll put the secret rabid "shipper" in me back in the closet!Libbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01083171991057163068noreply@blogger.com
